Following what I did for DOS yesterday, today came another task for me. This time, its DOSM.
Because I was sitting at Stacey's desk to do some of the tasks she assigned me before going on leave this week, DOSM peeked out of his office and called out for Stacey very loudly, which shocked everyone. He realized it was me and asked me to go into his office.
He asked me check for this guest who is checking in today by the name of "Cmxxxx Mr" (which I supposed is Mr Cmxxxx ). I did as I was told but there wasn't any guest by this name checking in today even though I searched by first and last name. I then wondered if the letter "C" was a bracket (because the guest name was hand written by DOSM) so I tried searching for "Mxxxx" via first and last name but still to no avail. I went in to boss' office to tell him of the result.
He then gave me the company name to search for, which was "Bxxxx". To my utmost horror, I still didn't manage to find anyone by the name of "Cmxxxx" or "Mxxxx" from the list of guests under Bxxxx who are arriving today. I did what I thought was the least I could do; to search for similar names.
I went through the names one by one and found the closest one; Emxxxx Lxxx. I checked for his company but it was another company called Txxxx Finxxx. I was kinda disappointed that it was the Bxxxx company that I was looking for. I tried my luck by Google Searching these two company names and guess what, the first result showed they were somehow related. "Txxxx Finxxx is a xxx company supplied by Bxxxx..." Coincidence?
I took down the info and informed my boss about it and he seemed 80% sure this is the guy he was looking for so he asked me to do a complimentary upgrade of room for this guest. After it was done, I asked him again whether he was sure this is the guy he is looking for. With that he replied me, "You see, point 1, his name is similar. Point 2, his company is related. Point 3, check-in today. Confirm is him already."
And boss did praise me when I found out the information for him. "Wah you're quite smart uh, I like you." Hahahahaha what an honour. Thankful that it wasn't too difficult a task.
So after I made the upgrade, he asked me to check which room was the guest allocated and whether it was ready. I called up front desk personally to ask them to clean up the room because the guest was arriving any moment (although my boss didn't have the guest's flight details). It was 12noon then when I told him that I have arranged for the room to be cleaned. That's when he asked me to make a lunch booking for him at The Line, 12.30pm.
Being personally from The Line, I knew no one would answer calls during lunch period so I told my boss I would go down personally to make the booking for him. To my horror (again), The Line was fully booked for lunch and only outdoor seats are available (which is a no no for VIP guests). I called my boss hurriedly and told him about the news and he said he could opt for Nadaman or Shang Palace.
Nadaman and Shang Palace have not opened their doors for lunch yet so I couldn't get access through the front looby so I rushed to Concierge to borrow the phone to call Dining Reservations. To my horror (again), no one is answering my call and I had no choice but to call Charmaine from Dining Reservations on her personal mobile. Thanks to her I managed to book a table for my boss at Shang Palace.
I then headed to reception to make sure that the room assigned is clean. That's when I saw my boss walking to the lobby... which means the guest is arriving that's why he is there to meet & greet! Holy shit thank god the receptionist arranged a clean room and everything was settled. I walked over to my boss and heard him saying as he was greeting the guest, "I have arranged a room for you already, right Justina?" while he turned to look at me. I smiled and replied, "yes of course, your room is ready for check-in."
With that, my boss took the guest's passport and asked me to check-in on behalf of him. What the shit... I haven't done that before I almost died when he asked me to do it lol. Thankful for the helpful staff along the way who helped me with the entire check-in procedure.
And eventually, boss was happy and thanked me for my help. I was thinking, there's no need for thanks. It was part of my job. In fact I felt happy that I was of some help to my boss.
And so I got to Level 2 of constructive-ness today. Hahahaha :P
