Today is mid-week and mid-April!!
I had my breakfast today so I'm not grumpy. Hahaha.
Not that tired even though I went home late last night.
Today I asked Elisabeth whether she find me lazy and she said yes.
So I told her, "But lazy people always find the easiest way out for problems they face."
I don't know what is the main point of this conversation, but as you can see, Elisabeth thinks I'm lazy. Which I don't even know why,
Hahaha.

My first official OT night!
15 April 2014, Tuesday
Today is the first official day I stayed back for OT. And it was a really bad day for me too.
I woke up at 6am as usual and got ready pretty quickly. It was too early to leave home because I did not want to wait for the shuttle bus for a long time so I lay on my bed and was thinking of catching a few more winks. As expected, that few winks lasted from 6.30am to 7am!! And I'm late!
Well the good thing is that I usually reach my workplace an hour early so I can enjoy my breakfast. So being late for half an hour just means I have half an hour less for breakfast. I usually would catch the 7.30am shuttle bus from Far East, so since I was late I planned to catch the next one at 7.45am.
Who would have known SMRT was so inefficient that I also missed my 7.45am bus? The next one was at 8.10am, so I watched Running Man while I waited. At 8.06am when I saw the bus approaching, I stood up and was about to board when I realised the uncle didn't plan to stop there! He didn't even turn to look at the bus stop to check if there's anyone boarding, he just drove straight ahead! I literally dropped my jaw and was wondering to myself like... what am I gonna do? Wait for the next bus? Take train to Newton? Take cab to work?
I called Honeylyn to tell her I will be late for breakfast. I decided to wait for the next bus. The bus came eventually while I was buying Starbucks and I almost missed the bus again! I was standing at the door waiting for it to open but uncle couldn't see me (I guess) so he almost drove away! I hit on the door so loudly that the uncle got a shock and stopped his bus in the end. Thank go. Or else I would really be late.
By the time I reached my workplace I already didn't have time for breakfast. What made me even more grumpy was that there was scrambled eggs and hashbrown for breakfast! Which was damn rare...
A really bad day for me. And I had to finish my work by staying back so late too. At least I had my Mac dinner though. Haha.

Rainy Monday; Monday Blues.
14 April 2014, Monday
You know the worst thing about my office is that it sits in the basement and we all have no idea whether it rains or shine until we actually step out? Anyway there was a heavy rain when we left home, so my manager drove me to Novena mrt even though there was a terrible jam.
So at work today I was scheduled to take minutes for an account review meeting so while going through my manager's accounts they were discussing about kpop groups. My boss asked who are they and I definitely gave a satisfactory answer like when they debut, which area they major in, which dramas they filmed haha. It was the first time I felt so sure of anawering questions. Haha!
Left work late because of the meeting and that's why I met my friend late for dinner! But still, time spent with friends are the best.
Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore: Wedding Show 2014/2015
13 April 2014, Sunday
Today is the big day! Rise and shine on a Sunday morning to get brunch food for colleagues!
I already pre-ordered the food one day before so that I could collect it asap. Patrina cabbed down from her home to pick me up at Chong Pang before we head down to work.
The taxi uncle drove on CTE all the way till Toa Payoh and if he went on he could have exited via Bukit Timah road to reach Shang. Instead, he exited to PIE (Tuas) and went via Upper Thomson then Stevens road and Patrina and I were like looking at each other blankly in the cab thinking like, "... what?"
Anyway, the event was kinda a mess (what I felt) because instructions wasn't passed on clearly and there ere even guest complains. Although we did have confirmed couples but it doesn't represent everything.
Spent my entire day at work and then joined my family at Grandma's house. Work again in less than 24 hours. :/

Into Boss' office... Into another world :P
11 April 2014, Friday
You know DOSM's office is like an entire different world because the air smells different and the atmosphere is different. So today, I got called in to the office. Not the first time already (the first was an unpleasant one) but this is considered the official first time.
There was Marcus (Sales Manager), Vivian (Sales Manager), Melanie (Assistant Director of Events), Lynette (Director of Events) inside and boss was saying he wanna ask us to buy brunch for our staff on Sunday's wedding show. He didn't want to ask our internal kitchen to cook because they are already busy enough with the event.
Boss said he wants food like Fanchoy and Marcus said he don't know what's that. Hahaha. Boss tried to ask a few more people to help but Aswin, Cheyenne and Stacey were all not free. He got Patrina in the end. There were like so many jokes in the office while we were discussing and boss is indeed a nice guy.
And then Round 2 of discussion was super hilarious too because the discussion was getting nowhere since we didn't have any idea what shops were open on a Sunday morning. We split the work in the end and the discussion came to an end.
Am kinda looking forward to the wedding show. Can't wait.

Dilemma... again :(
09 April 2014, Wednesday
Sometimes when life forces me to make decisions like this I really hate life. Why?
Just slightly more than a month ago, I made a decision after some very long and serious consideration over whether to join Rose Veranda or Sales as a full-time. I shall not brood over the pros and cons here but eventually I chose the latter.
And now, one month later after I joined sales, I heard news that the new Team Leader at Rose Veranda is "fired". She was in the same orientation group as me, which means she started almost at the same time as me.
Apparently bosses discussed with HR to say to let her go because she has been going on MCs without notice and not producing MC, also not replying messages or answering phone calls. I already had a pretty bad first impression of her the very first day we met, but I didn't expect her to last this short. Its a blessing though.
She was one cocky little girl, who worked part time six months in Banquet and thinks that she owns the whole world. Hello? I've been here for three years yet I'm not even saying anything so who the hell are you to make any comment? Not like I'm trying to compare myself to you but just... just saying.
Well here comes the issue. Now that the position is vacant again, I feel an invisible force pulling me back to operations... But I can't. I very very very want to work with my ex-colleagues and bosses again, very much. I told Honeylyn over dinner that they were not just my bosses. Having worked with them for some time, there's a certain level of personal emotions attached. I can't bear to leave them, honestly. They have invested so much in me, and I was especially upset when I heard what Mirko said about me in morning meeting. I am really upset.
Colleagues and friends have been seeing me around the hotel quite often and those who know me well enough have detected a sight change in my behaviour. "Why are you getting quieter after joining sales?" "Why do you look so sad?" "Are you very stressed?" All these questions were thrown to me these while, and I must admit: I am not enjoying my job as much as I did in the past.
I always argued with my dad and others who told me that when I start work I'd want to resume studying. I strongly disagreed with this because I truly believe I will enjoy working. However this is not the working life I expect to be living right now. I like my job; but I don't love my job. That's the issue here.
Maybe its just me being too sentimental and emotionally attached and all but seriously, this is tearing me apart. You all must think I'm crazy to make this entire thing sound so insanely crazy but it indeed is tearing me apart. I am feeling terrible inside. I have built bond with my current colleagues and I also can't bear to leave them. What to do? I'm so vexed.
If only I could have a talk with boss. If only boss could help me.

Last day of the week!!
04 April 2014, Friday
Who is not happy for Fridays!!
Who is not happy for Fridays!!
I am too! But boss asked me to do something for him this time which was more difficult. He asked em to compact his emails and retrieve his archive emails for him. Holy shit...
I called up IT and they said they needed his IP address, which I was thinking how should I ask my boss for it... Because I need access to his computer to be able to get his IP address...
So I "disturbed" my boss for a while and got his IP address and passed it to IT... IT then said my boss needs to close the email on desktop and switch off his 3G & wifi (because his email is connected to his phone) and my boss was staring at me like, "why do I have to do that" when I told him that.
Anyway thanks to IT's help it was done in less than 20mins. Phew, another stressing task down.
Stacey is back next week! I guess things will return back to normal? :D
Here it goes again :X
03 April 2014, Thursday
Yes, boss is at it again ^^
He asked me to search for a guest who is checking in today and I managed to retrieve the booking records. He asked what room he was assigned to and I told him. He continued, "Can we like go and check out the room to see if its ready?" I replied yes without hesitating. I mean like, am I even allowed to say no? Hahaha.
But with that came a question which I asked my manager, "we means me only or boss and myself?" She replied almost immediately, "of course its you only lah! You expect boss to go with you meh?" Which I thought made sense too. Just as I was about to leave the office to go check out the room boss called out to me and said, "Come Justina let's go see the room." Hahahaha so the answer is: go with boss. Lol :P
He spoke to me along the way and I musts say he is really nice. A little awkward when I got locked out of the guest room (after he opened the doer with the master card) because I was checking on some details with our colleagues at the corridor. I was contemplating whether or not I should knock on the door or wait for him to be out. Doesn't sound like a good idea for DOSM to open the door for you right? But anyway that was what I did and I was so embarrassed.
Done with my task by boss for the day. Phew, another constructive day for me.

Constructive work sequel... :O
02 April 2014, Wednesday
Following what I did for DOS yesterday, today came another task for me. This time, its DOSM.
Because I was sitting at Stacey's desk to do some of the tasks she assigned me before going on leave this week, DOSM peeked out of his office and called out for Stacey very loudly, which shocked everyone. He realized it was me and asked me to go into his office.
He asked me check for this guest who is checking in today by the name of "Cmxxxx Mr" (which I supposed is Mr Cmxxxx ). I did as I was told but there wasn't any guest by this name checking in today even though I searched by first and last name. I then wondered if the letter "C" was a bracket (because the guest name was hand written by DOSM) so I tried searching for "Mxxxx" via first and last name but still to no avail. I went in to boss' office to tell him of the result.
He then gave me the company name to search for, which was "Bxxxx". To my utmost horror, I still didn't manage to find anyone by the name of "Cmxxxx" or "Mxxxx" from the list of guests under Bxxxx who are arriving today. I did what I thought was the least I could do; to search for similar names.
I went through the names one by one and found the closest one; Emxxxx Lxxx. I checked for his company but it was another company called Txxxx Finxxx. I was kinda disappointed that it was the Bxxxx company that I was looking for. I tried my luck by Google Searching these two company names and guess what, the first result showed they were somehow related. "Txxxx Finxxx is a xxx company supplied by Bxxxx..." Coincidence?
I took down the info and informed my boss about it and he seemed 80% sure this is the guy he was looking for so he asked me to do a complimentary upgrade of room for this guest. After it was done, I asked him again whether he was sure this is the guy he is looking for. With that he replied me, "You see, point 1, his name is similar. Point 2, his company is related. Point 3, check-in today. Confirm is him already."
And boss did praise me when I found out the information for him. "Wah you're quite smart uh, I like you." Hahahahaha what an honour. Thankful that it wasn't too difficult a task.
So after I made the upgrade, he asked me to check which room was the guest allocated and whether it was ready. I called up front desk personally to ask them to clean up the room because the guest was arriving any moment (although my boss didn't have the guest's flight details). It was 12noon then when I told him that I have arranged for the room to be cleaned. That's when he asked me to make a lunch booking for him at The Line, 12.30pm.
Being personally from The Line, I knew no one would answer calls during lunch period so I told my boss I would go down personally to make the booking for him. To my horror (again), The Line was fully booked for lunch and only outdoor seats are available (which is a no no for VIP guests). I called my boss hurriedly and told him about the news and he said he could opt for Nadaman or Shang Palace.
Nadaman and Shang Palace have not opened their doors for lunch yet so I couldn't get access through the front looby so I rushed to Concierge to borrow the phone to call Dining Reservations. To my horror (again), no one is answering my call and I had no choice but to call Charmaine from Dining Reservations on her personal mobile. Thanks to her I managed to book a table for my boss at Shang Palace.
I then headed to reception to make sure that the room assigned is clean. That's when I saw my boss walking to the lobby... which means the guest is arriving that's why he is there to meet & greet! Holy shit thank god the receptionist arranged a clean room and everything was settled. I walked over to my boss and heard him saying as he was greeting the guest, "I have arranged a room for you already, right Justina?" while he turned to look at me. I smiled and replied, "yes of course, your room is ready for check-in."
With that, my boss took the guest's passport and asked me to check-in on behalf of him. What the shit... I haven't done that before I almost died when he asked me to do it lol. Thankful for the helpful staff along the way who helped me with the entire check-in procedure.
And eventually, boss was happy and thanked me for my help. I was thinking, there's no need for thanks. It was part of my job. In fact I felt happy that I was of some help to my boss.
And so I got to Level 2 of constructive-ness today. Hahahaha :P

Finally a constructive day :)
01 April 2014, Tuesday
As the title says, finally I feel like I have been constructive today at work. Not to say that I wasn't in the past, but I never felt so satisfied with my performance until today. Finally, I managed to complete a task assigned to me on my own and well done.
I am always very careful about doing things because I'm always afraid of making mistakes. So you will always see me asking nonsense questions just so I cover my own ass. And sometimes, I don't deny, these questions sound stupid. "So if the guest checks in tomorrow, I have to put the cards in his room today?" I mean like, its not exactly a stupid question but it sounds redundant too. Okay yes the answer is yes. Anytime, so long as you put it in the room before the guest arrives.
So... Coming back to today, my DOS called for me from her office while I was printing my stuff. I went in and she asked me to help her draft a corporate letter with special rate for this German company. For usual companies, there would be a Sales Manager assigned to the company but this company does not have a profile in our records, hence no manager in charge. DOS then told me to draft the contract out with her name first, so I did as I was told. I'm thankful because this is no difficult task for me for I've been doing it for the past one month already.
I was drafting out the contract when I had a question as to whether I should do the usual procedure since DOS mentioned that this was a special account. I went into her office and asked her and she replied, "Very good question." She hesitated for like 10 seconds before giving me an answer. At that point in time, I was so elated that I asked a logical question hahahaha.
Drafted out the contract and sent DOS the scanned copy via email. I also informed DOS that I created a new profile for the company since they were not in our records before. I am really very glad that I managed to complete the random task assigned to me.
So I finally felt I was useful at work today haha. Definitely made my mood a lot better. Hope everyday can be like this haha.

eClubs and more...
31 March 2014, Monday
Today is the last day the clients can redeem their membership points because after today it'll get written off. And you know how people are always busy. They don't redeem until the very last day. Which is today.
I can go crazy just redeeming the points for them and honestly speaking these people are really sons of bitches. You call us on the last day before the points expire and expect us to check your points for last year? You are not the only client who has got points to redeem you know.
But still, I had to finish everything because if I didn't it would have been my fault. So I did. I stayed back and I did.
It was just a very hectic day for me. Oh, whats new.

Saturdate!
29 March 2014, Saturday
You know what? Its not a date. Its just a Saturday outing. With my freshie Shawn!
We had Pastamanaia for dinner and caught Divergent at Cineleisure. The movie was damn good!! I super love the ost and am madly in love right now. Having withdrawal symptons I would say. Although the movie is lengthy and feels similar to Harry Potter & Hunger Games, I was still very entertained throughout.
Weekends never felt so precious until I started work. As expected, its all part of growing up.
