Saturday Duties

19 July 2014, Saturday

Its past mid July and seven months into 2014! I can't believe it because it feels like I just came back from Korea yesterday!

Anyway, haven't been updating my blog often recently because 1. work is the same boring shit everyday and 2. I'm really tired everyday to update.

So I'm like reviving this blog because something happened this morning that is worth blogging.

I was sick yesterday so I went to see the doctor and went home early with an MC. I'm on Saturday morning duty this week so I came back in the morning to check my emails and stuff. But honestly there is nothing to be done.

Its my second Saturday duty since I joined and it feels good to be in the office alone (surprisingly) because its really quiet. Quiet for Sales and MICE department but for Reservations, Events and Dining Reservations, they do come back on Saturdays regularly too.

So... The most awkward thing is that the F&B department is just right beside Sales (my ex-department and current department) and what makes it even more awkward is that I can see my ex-boss (EAM of F&B - Mr Mirko Cattini) directly from my seat.

So the last time I stayed till very late in the office (9+ 10pm) and I was all alone, surprisingly my phone rang. If someone is calling my direct line, it has a different ringing tone. So I was wondering who would call me at this hour and it turned out it was "Mirko Cattini" calling. :O

He actually spoke to me over the phone to ask me regarding an email I sent to him. So it was difficult  to explain to him over the phone, I simply walked over to his office and spoke to him instead. The feeling of working together is just so special.

That was the first time he ever spoke to me after I joined Sales. I thought he would never speak to me again because he was really upset by the fact that I joined Sales, till the extent he actually went to "complain/scold" Human Resources.

Anyway, it happened a second time when I was doing m first Saturday duty. He called me and I got the same whole surprised feeling again (because no one would call my direct line on a Saturday). You know the feeling of speaking to your boss over the phone? He is not just a boss to me; I;m not afraid of him or what. Its just so nice speaking to him.

And today, it happened for a third time. He called my direct line asking for my DOS' mobile number.

I actually heard the news yesterday that he is leaving in August... And I am really really sad about it. He has been a very nice boss to me over our working span of three years, and he did indeed appreciate me and tried to give me countless opportunities yet I kept rejecting his offers.

Of course, to big bosses like him, they wouldn't remember me for life. They have thousands of people to remember, and I wouldn't be one of them. But I willfully thought I could make a difference.

But nonetheless, I will remember him for life. Shang has gave me too much memories that I can't bear to leave this place. The people here have been so nice to me, despite me making mistakes and doing nonsense and leaving and "betraying" and all.

Words can't express my gratitude to them. And my sorrow that Mirko is leaving.

If only he knew how I felt.

Dinner Get-Together

02 July 2014, Wednesday

It has been more than a month since I blogged and I guess I was really busy that's why. But life still goes on even if I don't blog; I still go to work and home for dinner, meet up with friends occasionally over the weekends.

Caught nypco's annual concert 2014 "Flight of Fantasy" last Friday and it was awesome! Never fail to impress me. Just kinda sad that I am eventually not involved in this production. I mean I could, but I withdrew from it because I didn't have enough time to practice. Looking forward to our next production in August! 열심할게요!

So... This post is not gonna be talking about CO because I know it will be boring for some people. But not for me of course. I still love CO as much as in the past. <3

Wednesday is mid week. So Happy mid-week everyone! I had mine ending off perfectly with a dinner gathering with strangers - yes people whom I am meeting for the first time.

Monday was awesome because I went to Alive Museum with my best friends after work. And Tuesday I had no plans.

Wednesday is awesome because of this particular gathering, which I in fact, have been anticipating for ages since I knew about it. We're having dinner at The Line!

True that throughout four years of me working in Shang, I have been to The Line for umpteen times already (fourteen, to be exact) but I am still not sick of the food. For some reason I feel emotionally attached to that place; it just makes me happy to be there, whether it is as a staff or guest. Booked The Line dinner for 12pax because I was gonna dine with my secondary school friend and his colleagues!

Dinner @ The Line :D
This sec school friend of mine (we shall name him James :P) wasn't particularly close with me during schooling period. We got closer after we graduated, and even after we parted ways after sec school, we kept in contact and I am glad we are still close.

He is currently serving his NS in SPF. Which means all his colleagues are fellow policemen! Hehe kinda exciting for me, a 20-year-old girl, lol. Love social events like this and meeting new friends.

Actually, if not for my staff discount, I wouldn't even be there in the first place... Haha. 50% is too tempting an offer to reject. Therefore I was asked to join them.

James kinda gave me a disclaimer-cum-briefing before we met up haha. He told me about their general ages and characters, and that they were very friendly and open-minded. "But," he followed after, "don't forget we are all policemen so don't try anything funny arh," Hahaha this just cracked me up. xD

I ended work on the dot at 6pm and proceeded to change out of my office attire and not forgetting my favourite heels! It is the pair which I just bought few days back while shopping with Amanda at Charles & Keith. It cost me about $60 but I kinda like it a lot so I bought it. Furthermore, I usually don't consider a lot when I am buying heels. They are my favourite.

Heels from Charles & Keith (Price: $58.90)
Anyway, all in all it was really a fun night and I enjoyed myself. Many thanks to my friend who let me meet his colleagues!

Looking forward to Friday next... Company Retreat to Montigo, Batam!
